Originally standardized in 1959, the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier was the workhorse of the post-war US Army; even after being replaced by the M2 IFV and withdrawn from combat, it found great use as a support vehicle. The M113A2 is the powered-up version that has been produced since 1979. The enlarged trim vane, new type smoke dischargers, and large, detachable fuel tanks on the lamp mark the vehicle's distinctive appearance. Its figure was broadcast worldwide on TV and remembered when the US Army moved into Baghdad in Iraq War. Tamiya has also updated its good old kit of the Vietnam War era with new additional parts representing the A2 features. Lots of bags, sleeping mat rolls, water tanks and ammo boxes are added to enhance the 'life details' of the vehicle. The CIP (Combat Identification Panel) which act to prevent fratricide, seen on western military vehicles beginning in the late 1990s, have been added as well. Four set of decals are included, three from the Iraq War. Tracks are rubber-band type. Two new figures (one half-bodied) are included.
